Finding Our Way Home – Part 5

For the past four weeks, we’ve been talking about chaos. The chaos within us — the struggle to find peace, purpose and direction. The chaos at home — the pressures facing our marriages, our families and the next generation.

The chaos around us — division, injustice, poor leadership, endless arguments and a world that sometimes seems to have forgotten how to care...read more

THE 99 NAMES OF ALLAH (Asmaa ul Husnaa)

The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) has said: "Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise." (Sahih Bukhari 50:894)

Abu Huraira RA reported Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) as saying: "There are ninety-nine names of Allah; he who commits them to memory would get into Paradise. Verily, Allah is Odd (He is one, and it is an odd number) and He loves odd numbers.." (Sahih Muslim Book-48 Hadith-5)

O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present and those absent, our young and our old, our males and our females. O Allah, whom amongst us You keep alive, then let such a life be upon Islam, and whom amongst us You take unto Yourself, then let such a death be upon faith. O Allah, do not deprive us of his reward and do not let us stray after him. [Sunan Abi Dawud] (Aameen)

RECIPE
COCONUT ICE CREAM (Safeera Kaka)

INGREDIENTS
You’ll need:
* 1 cup cold heavy cream
* 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
* 1 cup coconut cream
* Pink food colouring
* 2-3 tbl desiccated coconut
* Toasted desiccated coconut, for serving — optional

METHOD
Start by placing your mixing bowl in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to chill.
Once the bowl is cold, pour in the 1 cup of cold cream. Using an electric mixer, whip the cream on high speed until stiff peaks form. Keep an eye on it so you don’t over-whip the cream. Next, add the 1 cup of condensed milk and 1 cup of coconut cream. Add the colouring and coconut. Using a spatula, gently fold everything together until well combined. Transfer the mixture into a freezer-safe container. Cover and freeze overnight. When you’re ready to serve, sprinkle over some toasted desiccated coconut for extra flavour and crunch. And that’s it — an incredibly easy, creamy homemade coconut ice cream.

WAKE UP, SON

Early one morning, a mother went in to wake up her son. "Wake up, son. It's time to go to school!"

"But why, Mom? I don't want to go."
"Give me two reasons why you don't want to go."
"Well, the kids hate me for one, and the teachers hate me, too!"
"Oh, that's no reason not to go to school. Come on now and get ready."
"Give me two reasons why I should go to school."

"Well, for one, you're 52 years old. And for another, you're the Principal!"
