The Nafs - My Father's Teaching

Father said, " Don't feed every desire of the ego"
It has no shape or substance, like a Lego.
Is it an organ in the body?
It makes you dance like Noddy.
Nafs is when the body and mind think they are self,
Body-mind is but an elf.
But the true self is the spirit within.
Spirit lives within all, tall, fat, or thin.
Spirit energises the body.
Never live shoddy.
Body-mind generates the ego.
That is self-realisation on the go.

O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present and those absent, our young and our old, our males and our females. O Allah, whom amongst us You keep alive, then let such a life be upon Islam, and whom amongst us You take unto Yourself, then let such a death be upon faith. O Allah, do not deprive us of his reward and do not let us stray after him. [Sunan Abi Dawud] (Aameen)
