Ad Description: Senior Bookkeeper
Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage full bookkeeping and financial administration functions across multiple entities. The role requires a highly organised and detail-oriented finance professional capable of overseeing end-to-end accounting processes, ensuring compliance, and supporting management with accurate financial reporting and insights.
Key Responsibilities
Full Bookkeeping & Accounting
Manage full bookkeeping function up to financial statements
Maintain general ledger, journals, cashbooks, and trial balance
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
Perform bank, debtor, creditor, and intercompany reconciliations
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Assist in preparation of financial statements and management reports
Monitor revenue streams, cash flow, and expense allocations
Analyse financial data to support business decision-making
Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information
Payroll & Statutory Compliance
Manage full payroll function (including UIF, PAYE, and EMP501)
Ensure compliance with SARS regulations (VAT, PAYE, income tax)
Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, UIF, and related statutory returns
Resolve SARS queries and maintain compliance documentation
Debtors, Creditors & Cash Management
Manage debtor and creditor reconciliations across multiple accounts
Oversee collections and reduce overdue debt exposure
Process payments and maintain accurate cashbook records
Allocate revenue and reconcile receipts from multiple sources
Systems & Administration
Work across accounting systems including Sage, Pastel, and Sage Payroll
Maintain accurate financial records and audit-ready documentation
Support auditors and external stakeholders during audit processes
Develop and improve financial processes and internal controls
Leadership & Business Support
Support and mentor junior finance staff
Assist in developing financial policies and procedures
Liaise with auditors, attorneys, and external service p
